Principal's Profile

Prof. Tadi Sobhasri is a Passionate teacher, an expert in the field of Social Work and academic administrator for over three decades. She began her career as Research Investigator in 1984 in UNICEF Project, then Medico Social Worker in 1986 in King George Hospital. Later on moved to Andhra University as Assistant Professor in 1990 out of passion towards teaching. She obtained Ph.D. in Social Work in the year 2005, and from then onwards gradually moved up in academic positions, to rose to become a Senior Professor in 2021. Presently she is serving as Principal, Institute of Advanced Studies in Education (IASE), Andhra University.

Prof. Sobhasri has previously held the positions of Andhra University Executive Council Member, Head of the Department & Board of Studies Chairperson of Social Work, Director of Centre for Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Studies, Director of Centre for Gandhian Studies, Director for CHILDLINE Nodal Agency, University NSS Coordinator, Chief Warden for University Ladies Hostel, and numerous other administrative positions and had been on committees of several public institutions under assignments of great sensitivity and responsibility. She also served as Board of Studies Chairperson for Department of Social Work, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Srikakulam during 2019-2022, for three years and selected as BOS Chairperson for Dravidian University, Kuppam. She served as a Dean, Faculty of Education; she served as Visitors Nominee on the Selection Board for all NITs and Editorial Board Member for Saamajika Nyaya Sandhesh a National Magazine published by the Ambedkar Foundation Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India

Prof. Sobhasri as a Research Mentor, has so far awarded 11 (Eleven) Ph.Ds, 01 (One) M.Phil under her guidance and also 05 (Five) Ph.Ds have submitted and waiting for the reports, 06 (Six) scholars are going to submit their thesis very soon and currently 13 (Thirteen) scholars are pursuing their Ph.D. under her guidance. Several of the research contributions under her supervision have received accolades and best paper awards at International/National Conferences. She has published more than 40 research papers, of which a majority are impact journals, peer reviewed and Scopus Indexed journals. She is one among the cited researchers in the field of social work and its allied sciences. She has also published more than 15 books and organized 04 National Conferences/Workshops.

Prof. Sobhasri has TWICE received, among the other honors, State Best NSS Programme Coordinator Award and Honored with Memento for organizing HIV/AIDS awareness programmes in the combined state of Andhra Pradesh from the then Chief Minister Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy. She has received appreciation letter from the Prime Minister of India for highest collection of amount for the victims of TSUNAMI through NSS Cell during 2004-2005 and from UNICEF for formation of more number of RED RIBBON CLUBS in prevention of HIV/AIDS through NSS Cell during 2006-2008. She had a great privilege to attend as Guest AT HOME hosted by the President of India Smt. Pratibha Patil on the occasion of 61st Republic Day Celebrations held at Rashtrapathi Bhavan, New Delhi. All through her career, she is identified for successful contribution as a teacher in the field of Social Work, and as academic administrator, while maintaining a high level of output in terms of quality and quantity

  • Library:
    IASE, Andhra University established a library of its own with a plinth area of 1000 sft., which could accommodate 40 students at a time. The library consists of about 1277 books, 9 journals and 5 magazines worth of more than Rs. 3,00,000/- This is an additional facility to our students apart from the central library of the university namely Dr. V. S. Krishna Memorial Library.

  • Computer Laboratory:
    Computer Laboratory was developed with 10 latest multimedia systems and two Printers with LAN and Internet facility in a plinth area of 400sft with AC facility. 10 students can work simultaneously and 40 students can assemble for theory.

  • Seminar Hall:
    The institute has a well-equipped and fully furnished seminar hall with a roundtable with a seating capacity of 50 participants. The seminar hall is equipped with conference sound system with individual mikes to each participant and facilities for OHP and LCD Presentations.

  • Educational Technology Laboratory:
    Educational Technology Laboratory consists of 29 Colour Television, Video Cassette Recorder, Automatic Slide Projector, Over Head Projector, Tape Recorder cum VCD Player, Public Address System, Educational Videos, Audio Cassettes and CDs.

  • Biological Science Laboratory:
    It consists of equipment worth of Rs.95,000/- established in 500sft plinth area provided with worktables, specimens, models, charts, microscopes, dissection apparatus, working models, mounted models, student-prepared models, charts, slides and transparencies.

  • Physical Science Laboratory:
    Physical science Laboratory, which consists of equipment worth of Rs.1,25,000/- established in 500sq.ft plinth area provided with all facilities for both physics and chemistry experiments. The students of B.Ed. had developed various static and working models, Charts, graphs and drawings.

  • Social Studies Laboratory:
    Social Studies Laboratory consists of Maps, Globes, working models, charts and drawings of various concepts of social studies.

  • Classrooms:
    The Institute has well-furnished classrooms with very good lighting and ventilation. They are equipped with American style Teakwood chairs, teachers' tables and green glass-boards.
